Sunday, July 19, 2015 Mount Washington

IN HONOR of Jane, The Ma, Sister Jane, Aunt Jane and Gramma Jane, her family: the Potters, Seymours, Rogers, Carmonas, Boswells and Hays conspired to fulfill her final wish: to have her ashes strewn on the Crawford Trail on Mount Washington.
10:30 AM. Sitting in the parking lot at the base checking the weather.
A break in the rain and the unstoppables charge upward.
We knew it was not to be a warm, sunny, calm day on the summit.
Nate is ready.
Albie reminds us that we are not parked on the summit.
Just a short hike to the top.
Trust us, girls. This IS the summit.
It'd better be the summit. The train stops here, as does the buck.
A stop at the top to check the weather.
Allan is pleased that the ranger consults Weathertap Zoom like he does. Amazing!
Bob announces that we will have lunch and wait for a rain cell to pass.

Ann approves.
Clowns
The rain has passed and the unstoppables head out.
We identify the famous Crawford Path. A cinch.
For heaven's sakes. You'd think these experienced hikers would know the oldest footpath in the United States.
Charlie straightens out Allan's interpretation of NORTH.
Hiking down. Not a walk in the park.
Like Joseph Smith leading the Mormons, someone declares, "This is the place."
Seth
We pause to reflect.
Seth does the honors.
A solemn moment.
We build a cairn.
And mark the spot.
Brother Allan and Daughter-in-law Laurie
The rocks are slippery as one might expect.
We pause on the drive down at the spot where Bob says there is a picture of little Jane holding a teddy bear.
And one more group shot.
